Materials
The Meridian frame starts as a single oak ring, sanded to 240 grit and finished with a food-safe hardwax oil. There is no printed grain, no vinyl wrap, no lacquer that chips at the corner. If it picks up a scratch in five years, a drop of oil will blend it back in.
Measured at one metre. Quieter than a whisper, inaudible from a sofa.

Put it in a nursery and stood there for two minutes trying to hear it. Nothing. The oak is real — you can see the grain change around the frame. Hangs flush and the level tab is a nice touch.
My previous clock was audible from the bedroom. This one is not. Battery lasted about 13 months. The dial has a subtle texture that keeps it from looking flat.

Yes. The movement sweeps continuously and is damped, measuring about 22dB at one metre — quieter than a whisper. There is no tick.
The frame is a light-to-medium oak with a warm, slightly matte oil finish. It sits closest to IKEA oak, Article walnut-light and most Scandinavian pieces.
It handles normal humidity, but we would not put it directly over a shower. Steam cycling will eventually dull the oil finish.
Roughly once a year. When the second hand starts to stutter, that is your signal.
