Glass, not acrylic
A hard-edged orange circle looks like a projector. A soft-edged halo looks like light. Solstice uses a glass lens and a diffused LED, then a PET film with a printed gradient — three layers, which is two more than most sunset lamps bother with.

It’s a nice object and the halo is soft. In a dark room it’s lovely; with any other light on you can’t see it at all. I expected something closer to the photos, which are clearly shot in the dark.
I’ve returned two of the cheaper ones because the edge was a hard circle. This has a proper gradient. The glass lens makes a visible difference. Still an accent light, not a room light.
Sehr schönes Licht und gute Verarbeitung. Für den Preis hätte ich mir etwas mehr Helligkeit gewünscht. Als Geschenk verpackt es sich aber sehr gut.
Bought it as a housewarming gift and ended up ordering one for myself. The amber film is the best of the four. Rotation is stiff in a good way — it stays where you aim it.

Yes. Tilt the head up to 45° and place the lamp 3–5ft from the wall. For a ceiling projection, put it on a low shelf and angle upward.
The lens warms to about 45°C after two hours. It is LED-based, so it is much cooler than a halogen sunset lamp.
As an accent, yes. It reads well on camera at 30–50% brightness with a warm white balance. It is not a key light.
